Filosofia Cósmica (Cosmic Philosophy)
This song is dedicated to my friend Fábio Serranito who is a philosopher and a person who loves classical music but tends to avoid pop songs. Art as knowledge
In this short essay I will try to defend why I think art is a form of knowledge and why it is so important to support art and artists, specially, experimental art, that due to its condition is usually unable to generate revenue to support itself. Our language is our world, however, language is limited. … Continue reading Art as knowledge

Finding one’s voice: assembling and mixing the little bits that ring inside yourself.
There's the famous theory that everything is a remix, that we are entangled in «webs of significance». Culture, according to the notable anthropologist Clifford Geertz, is «a system of inherited conceptions expressed in symbolic forms by means of which men communicate, perpetuate, and develop their knowledge about and attitudes toward life». Everything that surrounds me … Continue reading Finding one’s voice: assembling and mixing the little bits that ring inside yourself.
What is great music and why isn’t Beethoven that great after all
In the era of digital age and technology, computers and digital media changed our perception and values regarding making and consuming music. However, it seems to me that history (and specially western academia) haven't reflected that change and still regard on values connected with symbolic musical notation to write their values – what was adequate … Continue reading What is great music and why isn’t Beethoven that great after all

Fade to Pink
This is an animation by Jeanne Stern. The animation was photocopied onto film strips. Video then processed back and forth between two VCRs dozens of times. The music, in this version, is an original from mine and it follows the flow of the animation, degrading through time moving from an ethereal sound into noise.

Porque o amor é um vírus
This song was born after Flávio Conceição has written a love poem in the style of Pedro Abrunhosa. I just felt inspired to make the music come true. But it doesn't really matter. … Continue reading Porque o amor é um vírus

«Fado (Portuguese: destiny, fate) is a music genre which can be traced to the 1820s in Portugal, but probably with much earlier origins. However, in reality fado is simply a … Continue reading The Portuguese Way

Portuguese Suite
The Portuguese suite is a work mostly for Toy Piano Solo. The concept was to create a small set of pieces with a common line: they should all reflect the traditional music from Portugal. Aprender a desler (in Portuguese)
Online Piracy and authorship – a solution
My proposal to deal with this problem would be a flat rate combined with an universal practice of making content available through author's official website. That flat rate should be deduced on … Continue reading Online Piracy and authorship – a solution
A emoção na música (in Portuguese)
Continue reading Personagens e Ficção (in Portuguese)

Porque falham as discussões? (in Portuguese)
O problema … Continue reading Porque falham as discussões? (in Portuguese)

(in Portuguese)
(in Portuguese)

O fabuloso destino de Amélia Postigo (the fabulous destiny of Amélia Postigo)
This song is the soundtrack of a short-story I wrote on the character of Amélia Postigo, one chapter of my book "O castelo do Louco". It is a parody on the "Comptine d'été nº2" by Yann Tiersen, which was featured on the motion picture "Le fabuleux déstin de Amélie Poulain". The style imitation is assumed … Continue reading O fabuloso destino de Amélia Postigo (the fabulous destiny of Amélia Postigo)
